The assigned ratings of Ideas (Private) Limited (hereafter ‘IDEAS’ or ‘the Company’) reflect its position as the dedicated retail arm of the Gul Ahmed Group and a wholly owned subsidiary of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited (GATM). The Company sells home textiles, fabric, apparel, footwear and accessories under the ‘Ideas by Gul Ahmed’ brand through 92 outlets nationwide, supported by captive manufacturing and its parent’s supply chain. During FY26, the topline rebounded 15.9% YoY to PKR 30,957mln (FY25: PKR 26,711mln). Gross and operating margins moderated to 40.2% and 13.9% (FY25: 42.5% and 15.0%), while the net margin improved to 1.9% (FY25: 0.8%) on lower finance cost and an effective tax rate. EBITDA rose 26.8% to PKR 4,259mln, improving EBITDA coverage of finance cost to 3.0x (FY25: 2.1x). Total borrowings declined 15.3% to PKR 6,251mln, with PKR 750mln of long-term debt repaid, bringing gearing down to 51.5% (FY25: 58.2%). Inventory days improved to 125 (FY25: 232), and operating cash flows turned positive at PKR 3,262mln. During 3MFY27, the Company recorded net sales of PKR 7,224mln, with gross, operating and net margins of 42.6%, 6.5% and 1.1%, respectively. Borrowings declined further to PKR 5,511mln, improving gearing to 48.0%. Inventory build-up, largely financed through higher trade payables, resulted in inventory days of 140 and a moderation in the current ratio to 1.9x (FY26: 2.5x). Liquidity remains adequate, with substantial headroom under short-term borrowing limits. IDEAS is set to issue its first Rated, Unsecured, Unlisted, Privately Placed, Short-Term Sukuk, valued at up to PKR 1.0bln with a tenor of up to six (6) months. The proceeds will be used to finance the Company’s working capital requirements. The instrument will be unsecured and carries no guarantee or other credit enhancement, so repayment rests on the Company’s own cash flows. These are supported by FY26 FCFO of PKR 3,844mln and unutilized short-term limits. Working capital requirements remain inherently high given the Company’s inventory-led retail model.
Sustaining revenue growth and strengthening bottom-line profitability remain important for the ratings. Prudent inventory and working capital management, timely servicing of the current maturity of long-term borrowings, and a balanced funding mix will remain critical. Furthermore, continued support from the parent, preservation of the brand’s competitive position, and strengthening of the governance framework through independent directors and formal board committees remain imperative.
